Goodbye to a Vibrant Soul - Dottie Frank

Image
The Lowcountry lost one of our most amazing authors and my absolutely favorite persons, Dorothea Benton Frank aka Dottie/Dot Frank. A New York Times Best Selling Author,  her books kept me in love with my hometown while I lived in Colorado. I was lucky enough to know her and it breaks my heart that she is gone. Here's what I wrote on Facebook when I heard the news. Hope to see so many of those that loved her at the memorial. Photo:  https://bermudaonion.net/ Ryan Nelson Goldwater September 3 at 6:07 PM ·  As I write this, I hope that Dottie DB Frank Dorothea Benton Frank is looking over my shoulder (and so many other of us who are posting something like this right now) and feeling no pain. I'm not happy that she's gone AT ALL, but she was the embodiment of the Lowcountry. Sending love and light to her family. She was so happy to be a mom and grandmom. Her love for her family and readers was unique. Dottie, thank you for being you. Thank you for your raspy...

PR Tip from Ryan Nelson

Image
Tip from Ryan Nelson: If you're just starting off in the world of public relations and someone asks you to create a media list, don't put advertising executives and other sales related people on there. It looks lazy and your internship/employer/contract person will wonder if you understand the side of editorial at all. Get to know reporters, their beats, editors, etc...you don't have to know them personally (however that does help) know WHAT they do. You wouldn't send a recipe to a crime reporter, right? Then get with it.

PR Tip From Ryan Nelson

Image
Tip: When you create a media alert, don't write it in all caps - not because it looks like you're yelling and that your event is beyond important - because, if you want news to put the event in the daybook, you need to make it easy so they can copy and paste. They are busy. Make it easier for news outlets.

Image
Great news! Our new client, Carolina Global Inc.'s new beverage Happy Juice Express is debuting in stores as you read this. Its expected arrival date is June 12, 2014 but many stores have received early shipments and the product is flying off the shelves and in some areas, selling out in less than 30 minutes.  From their site, "Happy Juice Express is a delicious fruit-flavored malt beverage served in a 24 oz. bottle with 12% ABV.  While the product is brewed Wisconsin (and many thanks to our friends in the midwest!), the brand, taste, and concept were developed from the blood, sweat and tears of three entrepreneurs from the great state of South Carolina.  In addition to tasting great, the Happy Juice Express brand exemplifies a lifestyle for the free-spirits and go-getters who move through life with a smile."  There's much more to come about this SC born & raised product but it's moving so fast...stay tuned. Not only will you find it in conve...
