As local high school football teams are hitting the practice fields prepping for the 2017 season, they’re also practicing for their 2017 debut at the 47th Annual Hendrick Charleston Sertoma Football Classic, which is this Thursday and Friday at Johnson Hagood Stadium. Tickets are on sale via local participating high school cheerleading teams and online at CharlestonSertoma.org. Tickets are $12. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. and kick off is at 5:00 p.m. Not only are cheerleading teams the main ticket sales outlet for this event, one dollar from each ticket they sell goes back to both their high school cheerleading and football teams; and the remainder of the proceeds goes to local children’s charities.    **Also NEW this year**  The Sertoma Club of Charleston and Hendrick Automotive Group of Charleston is proud to offer VIP Viewing tickets for $50 per person. Every year, the Sertoma Football Classic enhances the activities and events that make the Classic a tradition. On this 47th year, The Sertoma Club of Charleston and Hendrick Automotive Group of Charleston is proud to offer VIP Viewing tickets for $50 per person. These tickets allow you to enjoy the air-conditioned view from Johnson Hagood’s fourth floor club level with a complimentary buffet and non-alcoholic drinks. Every Monday in July, when you patron The Rusty Rudder in Mount Pleasant, 10% of proceeds will go to the Sertoma Club of Charleston/Sertoma Classic. This week, local high school cheerleaders, football teams, bands and powder puff teams from around the Lowcountry will come together for the annual kickoff to high school football season - the 46th Annual Hendrick Automotive Group Charleston/North Charleston Sertoma Football Classic at Johnson Hagood Stadium on August 11 and 12. With all the exciting new changes to the Classic for 2016, the Sertoma Club of Charleston is proud to announce that Darren Goldwater has been named the new public address announcer.  Goldwater, a television and radio play by play announcer and host, broadcasts college division sports on American Sports Network (ASN), Sinclair Broadcasting's national network available in 94 million homes. For the past 43 years, high schools from around the Lowcountry have come together to kick off football season at the Sertoma Football Classic. This year’s event, once again sponsored by C.T. Lowndes and Company, will be Thursday, August 21st and Friday, August 22nd at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium.  This annual tradition not only signals the beginning of high school football in the Lowcountry, but also assists local nonprofits to continue their missions with 100% of the proceeds going to local charities and schools.  Windwood Family Services, Eagle Harbor Ranch, Trinitas Foundation, Camp Happy Days, Boy Scouts of America, Ronald McDonald House, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding, West Ashley JROTC, SCHSL, participating schools and other charities were all recipients of last year’s Sertoma Football Classic.
