Firefly Sunset Resort in Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abaco is locally owned by Jim and Ann Irvin (previous owners of Irvin-House Vineyards and current co-owners of Firefly Distillery). Their resort was obliterated by Hurricane Dorian as their cay, Elbow Cay, was the first place where Dorian made landfall. Many from the Charleston area visit the resort regularly and it holds close ties to the Charleston community. This resort also employs many Bahamians in that area. The Irvin family along with their children Jay and Kimberly MacMurphy (wife) coordinated a list of supplies needed and local residents signed up for specific items--at Red Drum on 9/10/2019. Firefly Distillery is proud to announce that Jay MacMurphy has been promoted to General Manager of Firefly Distillery, LLC.  He will manage the tasting room, operations, production and accounting. MacMurphy started his career at Irvin~House Vineyards in 2000, where he helped the Irvin Family plant muscadine grapes that would eventually become wine. He then worked as assistant wine maker and vintner for the winery. Once Firefly Distillery opened, he moved to the spirits side and held positions such as assistant distiller and most recently, production manager.  MacMurphy lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Kimberly and five children. The flowers are blooming and warmer weather has hopefully settled in as we approach spring. Get out of the house and shake off your spring fever with Sippin’ Saturdays at Irvin~House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery. Every Saturday from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m, the winery and distillery will serve up a different local food vendor and musical group to entertain locals and visitors. There is no admission fee but patrons are encouraged to bring their cash and credit for a wide variety of libations and food options.  Bring lawn chairs and blankets to picnic under the oaks and relish in the Lowcountry beauty. The famous Irvin~House Vineyards Wine-a-Ritas will be served on the patio and Irvin~House Vineyards wine may be purchased by the glass or bottle and enjoyed outside. Going for a touchdown! Two local tourist destinations, Irvin~House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery are in the running for the exposure of a lifetime as they have been chosen for round two of the Intuit Small Business Big Game Contest. The reward: a national commercial to air during the third quarter of the the biggest football game of the year!  Now that voting has been closed to the public, Intuit will pick the top 20 companies, using their number of votes, financial stability, creativity and how they represent the Intuit brand. Four finalists will be announced in November and each will receive a professionally produced national commercial. Voters will then choose their favorite business and the grand prize winner will be announced in December. Intuit will provide the budget to produce the ad. Firefly Distillery co-founders Jim Irvin and Scott Newitt announce the launch of Firefly Moonshine! Distilled out of South Carolina pride, Firefly Moonshine is a raw southern spirit from the creators of the original Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. Firefly Moonshine is produced in six flavors: White Lightning, Apple Pie, Caramel, Cherry, Strawberry, and Peach. They are between 41.1 and 100.7 proof; 20.55% and 50.35% alcohol by volume.  Each has a unique flavor that delivers on low country character yet packs a punch. This Saturday, people from around the Lowcounty will descend upon Charleston's Only Winery and Vineyard, Irvin House Vineyards for the 9th Annual Grape Stomping Festival.
