Sip While You Shop at Holiday Open House at Irvin-House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery

All of the excitement and stress of the holiday season is here. With many scurrying about fulfilling Christmas shopping lists, they’re also planning ways to entertain family and friends. Instead of shopping the “big box” chain stores, escape to Charleston’s only winery, Irvin-House Vineyards and Charleston’s first and largest distillery, Firefly Distillery, for their annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 13 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. 



 Food, hot mulled wine, local crafts and live music will get you into the Christmas spirit.


This annual festive event will have local vendors selling delightful seasonal gifts, and shoppers over the age of 21 will receive a complimentary glass of our homemade, hot mulled wine. While shopping, guests can enjoy the musical sounds of The Plantation Singers, enjoy the tastes of Stono Café and enjoy a picture with Santa under the oaks starting at 3:30 p.m.



If you’re in need of the perfect gift, the Firefly Distillery and Irvin-House Winery will have Lowcountry gift baskets already created for purchase, or relax under the oaks while a custom basket is made to order for you, which include the Irvin-House Vineyards variety of wine, and Firefly spirits. Shipping options are available.  
Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to relax on the expansive lawn. Food will be available for purchase from Stono Cafe' and Irvin~House Vineyards wine may be purchased by the glass or bottle and enjoyed outside. 

Tastings in the Firefly Vodka distillery and Irvin~House Vineyard winery are only $6.00 to taste 6 of 24 flavors of Firefly Spirits and $5.00 to taste 5 wines. Patrons will receive complimentary glasses during both tastings. Pets are allowed but must be leashed, and no coolers please. Regular hours at the vineyard are Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please check our website for information on special holiday hours and closings.

Local Kidney Transplant Recipient Everett German Takes On the Charleston Kidney Walk

One in eight South Carolinians has chronic kidney disease and South Carolina is fifth in the nation with the number of patients on dialysis. One of those patients once on dialysis is College of Charleston basketball radio commentator and former television talk show host Everett German. Today, he’s as healthy as he ever has been, thanks to a kidney transplant on June 8, 2011.  To celebrate his second chance at life, German took the lead on bringing a walk to Charleston to help provide Awareness, Prevention and Treatment to the Lowcountry. Noisy Oyster Celebrates 25 Years With a Facelift and Menu Enhancements

Fourth generation restauranteur Wade Boals and business partner Brett Yearout are proud to showcase the new renovations and menu enhancements at both Noisy Oyster Restaurant locations, located at 7842 Rivers Avenue and 24 N Market St, in honor of their 25 years in the Lowcountry restaurant scene. With the help from famed chef Bob Waggoner, Boals and Yearout enhanced the menu with more local ingredients and a farm-to-table perspective. Waggoner also consulted on plate presentation.
