2017 CAA MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP INTRODUCES LOWCOUNTRY YOUTH SHOWCASE PRESENTED BY HENDRICK AUTOMOTIVE GROUP

 With the 2017 CAA Men’s Basketball Championship taking the court March 3-6 at the North Charleston Coliseum, the CAA is proud to announce a new entertainment aspect to the championship with the Lowcountry Youth Showcase presented by Hendrick Automotive Group.

The Lowcountry Youth Showcase presented by Hendrick Automotive Group highlights some of the coolest activities children in the Lowcountry are participating in at school or in after-school programs. From robotics, singing, step teams, double dutch, Backpack Journalists, DJ-ing and more, children will be performing before each session during the championship on the concourse and during half time. This is exciting for those participating and their families. Those participating in the Lowcountry Youth Showcase include children from North Charleston Recreation Department, City of Charleston Recreation Department, Charleston County School District and the local nonprofit Carolina Studios.

“Ever since the CAA announced it was moving its marquee event to the Lowcountry, we wanted to do something for the youth of the area, noted CAA Deputy Commissioner for Basketball Ron Bertovich.  “Seeing the talents of the children in the community is inspiring and we have the perfect outlet to showcase these talents. We’re looking forward to watching some very creative kids on stage.”

Box office hours at the North Charleston Coliseum are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Lowcountry is the home of the CAA Men’s Basketball Championship from 2017 through 2019, hosting CAA members College of Charleston, University of Delaware, Drexel University, Elon University, Hofstra University, James Madison University, UNCW, Northeastern University, Towson University and the College of William & Mary.
