Say A Blessing for a Great Harvest at Irvin~House Vineyard and Firefly Distillery’s 13th Annual Blessing of the Vines

Join Irvin~House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery in the centuries old tradition of blessing the vines and toasting to a burgeoning harvest with the Irvin~House Vineyard and Firefly Distillery 13th Annual Blessing of the Vines Festival on Saturday, November 7,
 2015 from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m, located at 6775 Bears Bluff Road on Wadmalaw Island. 



Irvin~House Vineyards invites you for a day full of family fun with activities including the annual blessing of muscadine grapevines by Father Greg Snyder, Irvin~House Vineyards wine and Firefly Distillery tastings, live music from Honey Smoke and the Matt MacKelcan Band. The event is open to the public; admission is $10.00 per car. 
Tasty food vendors such as Chucktown Mobile Seafood, Gidget Gourmet and Linen’s BBQ will be on-site selling their homemade eats. 

At next Saturday's Blessing of the Vines Festival, there will also be a Firefly Spirits​ Bake OFF! The Loophole​, Sweeney's​ and Sunrise Bistro​ will create one dessert using a Firefly Spirit. Tickets will be sold to taste the desserts and the one with the most tickets wins the title of Best Firefly Spirit Dessert. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the Frierson Elementary After School Programs.

Guests can “Saddle Up for Students” by riding a mechanic bull that will also benefit Frierson Elementary. Families can enjoy sugarcane crushing, on-site craft vendors plus many kid friendly choices such as face painting and hula-hooping with Homespun Hoops. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to relax on the expansive lawn. Pets are allowed but must be leashed, and no coolers please. Guests are also encouraged to arrive early to secure their spot. 

The famous Irvin~House Vineyards Wine-a-Ritas will be served on the patio and Irvin~House Vineyards wine may be purchased by the glass or bottle and enjoyed outside. Tastings in the Firefly distillery and Irvin~House Vineyard winery are only $6.00 to taste 6 of 27 flavors of Firefly Spirits and $5.00 to taste 5 wines. Patrons will receive complimentary glasses during both tastings.

Farewell to Dean Stephens of WCIV-TV

  Working in local TV news was something I wanted to do since I was a child...ask my parents, I would stage interviews and anchor from the couch in our ranch-style home when we had smooth wood hugging the TV and its 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS during the 1980s. My dad is a news lover and from a young age, I always watched news. Most parents in today's world would say "She's too young. You can't expose kids to that!" But when did a Nelson truly listen to other people? I grew up watching Charleston TV news. I idolized local reporters during Hurricane Hugo like Cathy O'Hara, had a crush on Dan Krosse and was even scared to walk up to Kellen Butler when we were both at the Music Farm.
