Jamming in the Sand: The Second Annual Patrick Davis Hope Town Songwriters Festival Returns to Abaco February 18-22, 2014


It was such a hit its first year, it’s even bigger and even better in 2014. The Second Annual Patrick Davis Hope Town Songwriters Festival will be held Tuesday, February 18 to Sunday, February 22, 2014 at locations all around Hope Town, Abaco including Firefly Sunset Resort, Harbour’s Edge Restaurant, Abaco Inn, Sea Spray Resort and Marina and Lubbers’ Landing Resort. The festival will illuminate this Bahamian beach village with events from some of Nashville’s greatest musical talent. All of the weekend’s events are free and open to the public.

Songwriters performing include artists such as James Otto, Django Walker, Whitney Duncan, James Slater, Chris Destefano, Mark Bryan, Tyler Reeve, James Slater, Kylie Sackley, Jessie Rice, Phillip Lammonds and, festival host, Patrick Davis. These artists have been involved in the writing of hits for star performers like Zac Brown Band, Pat Green, Edwin McCain, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson and many more. Coordinator and promoter of the festival, and Singer-Songwriter, Patrick Davis is known for writing many hits such as Jason Michael Carroll’s Top 10 hit, “Where I’m From,” and “Be Wary of a Woman,” for Charleston’s own Darius Rucker.


This year’s festival includes events such as a mix and mingle with the songwriters, live music shows and stories behind the writing.

Friday, 2/21 - 8 Man Songwriters Jam, 8:00 p.m. Firefly Sunset Resort 
Saturday, 2/22 - Unplugged Acoustic Jam, 1:00 p.m. Lubbers’ Landing 
and a Farewell Jam, 9:00 p.m., Harbour’s Edge Restaurant

Farewell to Dean Stephens of WCIV-TV

  Working in local TV news was something I wanted to do since I was a child...ask my parents, I would stage interviews and anchor from the couch in our ranch-style home when we had smooth wood hugging the TV and its 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS during the 1980s. My dad is a news lover and from a young age, I always watched news. Most parents in today's world would say "She's too young. You can't expose kids to that!" But when did a Nelson truly listen to other people? I grew up watching Charleston TV news. I idolized local reporters during Hurricane Hugo like Cathy O'Hara, had a crush on Dan Krosse and was even scared to walk up to Kellen Butler when we were both at the Music Farm.
