Discover Charleston’s Gems with Exciting New Excursion, “Island Sip and See”


Spending the day visiting three of the Lowcountry’s top tourist attractions on Wadmalaw Island - Firefly Distillery, Irvin~House Vineyards and The Charleston Tea Plantation -  just got easier thanks to a new all-inclusive excursion package. Every Tuesday and Thursday beginning April 30, 2013, visitors can enjoy “Island Sip and See”, a stress-free ride out to Wadmalaw via the Lowcountry Loop Trolley with the opportunity to spend time at all three destinations for an excursion on the island they will never forget. 

Included in “Island Sip and See” excursion package is: a factory and trolley tour at America’s only working tea garden, The Charleston Tea Plantation, as well as all the hot or iced tea you can want and a catered lunch by Johns Island’s hidden gem, The Stono Café. Guests will then explore beautiful Irvin~House Vineyards and enjoy a tasting of all five of their wine varietals with a complimentary souvenir wine glass. Lastly, guests will enjoy true southern spirits at the Firefly Distillery, where they can taste six of the latest distilled spirits and be treated with a souvenir shot glass. Once the day is complete, guests can hop back on the trolley and relax for a quick ride back to the Holy City. 

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:30 a.m, the fully enclosed and air-conditioned Lowcountry Loop Trolley will pick up guests at the Charleston Visitors Center, as well as from surrounding area hotels by reservation only. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly encouraged. Please plan on a full day, as the tour will last roughly about five and a half hours.

Adult tickets are $46.00 per person, children 5-12 years of age are $12.00 per child, and children under five years of age are free. Farewell to Dean Stephens of WCIV-TV

  Working in local TV news was something I wanted to do since I was a child...ask my parents, I would stage interviews and anchor from the couch in our ranch-style home when we had smooth wood hugging the TV and its 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS during the 1980s. My dad is a news lover and from a young age, I always watched news. Most parents in today's world would say "She's too young. You can't expose kids to that!" But when did a Nelson truly listen to other people? I grew up watching Charleston TV news. I idolized local reporters during Hurricane Hugo like Cathy O'Hara, had a crush on Dan Krosse and was even scared to walk up to Kellen Butler when we were both at the Music Farm.
