Locals to Pour It Forward to the Charleston Community

They say it’s better to give than receive, so to keep the giving spirit alive in the Lowcountry, The Square Onion Too! and Earthly Artifacts will host a new monthly giving event one Wednesday each month called “Pour It Forward”. The first installment of the monthly series will occur on Wednesday, March 23 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Square Onion Too! at 411 Coleman Boulevard. A $10 donation is requested and with their donation, patrons will enjoy libations, music, snacks and more. The donation will go to a local nonprofit chosen for the event.  

For the first installment of the event on March 23, patrons can enjoy a wine tasting with proceeds from the event going to S.W.A.T., Southern Women Animal Task force. “This is a great way for the community to come together, donate ten dollars and have a good time but still make a difference in the lives of local nonprofits. There are so many wonderful nonprofits in town, this event spotlights them in a relaxing, fun environment.” said Mary Zapatka, owner of Square Onion and Square Onion Too!

Wednesday, April 6 - Animal Rescue and Relief 
Wednesday, May 16 - Louie’s Kids 
Wednesday, June 22 - Warriors Wear Pink

Farewell to Dean Stephens of WCIV-TV

  Working in local TV news was something I wanted to do since I was a child...ask my parents, I would stage interviews and anchor from the couch in our ranch-style home when we had smooth wood hugging the TV and its 4 channels. ABC, NBC, CBS & PBS during the 1980s. My dad is a news lover and from a young age, I always watched news. Most parents in today's world would say "She's too young. You can't expose kids to that!" But when did a Nelson truly listen to other people? I grew up watching Charleston TV news. I idolized local reporters during Hurricane Hugo like Cathy O'Hara, had a crush on Dan Krosse and was even scared to walk up to Kellen Butler when we were both at the Music Farm.
